Over There (1917) was a popular American patriotic song during World War I, as again in World War II, to encourage men to enroll in the armed forces to fight the "Huns" and "make your mothers proud of you." He wrote several other patriotic tunes, including Yankee Doodle Dandy and You're a Grand Old Flag.
