Boys United: the first book in the Football Academy series by Tom Palmer

But on the day of his trial Jake is quick on the ball and scores - he's made it! Jake can't wait to pull on his shirt and join the team. But someone at the club wants to make his life difficult. Can Jake face up to the bullies and become man of the match again?

Stay on the ball this season with the first four stories following the boys in United's under-twelves.

Reviews

I loved the Jack Stalwart series right from the first book . . . Can these keep coming, please? I love it! It's like Anthony Horowitz for the younger reader

—— The Bookseller

This series is the 'must read' of the summer. The books' travel-based themes also make them ideal for holiday reading

—— Jacob Hope , Achuka

The Jack Stalwart books have been a great weapon in the bookseller's armoury for hooking reluctant readers. Now re-launched, they are set to reach a much wider audience of young readers who want a piece of the secret-agent action

—— Sarah Moore , Publishing News

Praise for The Book of Joy (adult book): The world needs joy and compassion more than ever before. A bright spot of hope and love in this world.

—— Sir Richard Branson

Realizing that making mistakes is part of the process could be a game-changer for the many kids who can't conquer their discouragement when their art falls short of their expectations

—— Booklist

Even if readers don't need encouragement to unleash their own talents, they should be intrigued by this protagonist's arc toward artistic assurance

—— Publishers Weekly

This book is perfect to read with children who have started drawing but sometimes feel disheartened when their drawing doesn't turn out exactly as they see it in their heads ... a stunningly beautiful book with a message for young and old - and it makes readers look anew and refreshed at the world. Ed Vere is one of the most talented children's books creators of our time and takes the care to make every word and every mark mean something, in or out of the lines
