The under 15s League competitionis under way and Hooker and Co enter into the fray with typical Glory Gardens' gusto. First class cricket is the order of the day but when it comes to the crunch can oddball Ohbert pull it off in a moment of cricketing crisis? And have Glory Gardens CC REALLY got what it takes to be the best - not just throughout the regional trials - but at. . . HEADINGLY?
Couldn't recommend them highly enough
—— Test Match Special, BBC Radio 4Bob Cattell's tales couldn't be more wholesome if they came with bran and a fireside singsong . . . The books are fast-moving and, as you would expect, genuinely exciting
—— All Out CricketA lively tale for boys aged five to seven
—— Cork Evening EchoSo what makes these different to any other set of classics? In a moment of inspiration Random House had the bright idea of actually asking Key stage 2 children what extra ingredients they could add to make children want to read. And does it work? Well, put it this way...my 13-year-old daughter announced that she had to read a book over the summer holiday and, without any prompting, spotted The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas...and proceeded to read it! Now, if you knew my 13-year-old daughter, you would realise that this is quite remarkable. She reads texts, blogs and tags by the thousand - but this is the first book she has read since going to high school, so all hail Vintage Classics!
—— National Association for the Teaching of EnglishGreat value, great fun
