My Generation

A family saga covering four decades, My Generation offers a window into the drugs and pop-fuelled protest movement inspired by writer Alice Nutter's own experience of the protest movement (she was part of the band Chumbawamba). With original music by Harry Hamer, My Generation stars Jo Hartley (Waterloo Road; This Is England) as Cath, Jason Done (Waterloo Road) as Mick in a cast that also includes Aimee Leigh Foster, Emma Rydall and Carla Henry. First broadcast: BBC Radio 3, February 5, 2012.

Reviews

This exhaustively researched life of the Beatles' chief cynic, John Lennon, aims to get beneath the surface gloss ... a compelling account

—— Mark Edmonds , The Sunday Times

Genuinely moving.

—— The Times

The honest, revealing material brings you closer to the truth about this extraordinary man.

—— Sun

A revealing reflection of an extraordinary life.

—— Daily Express

Witty with bursts of Smithy-style sincerity - it is distinctively Corden.

—— Independent

It'll make you lol but is also full of poignancy in classic Smithy Style

—— Company Magazine

Strong accounts of his highs and lows... [the book] lays bare the distorting lens of modern celebrity.

—— London Life

Cute on the machinations of the industry and internal band politics

—— The Times, Book of the Week

Brilliant... forensically put together

—— Gordon Smart , XFM

The real pleasure of his beguiling, meandering narrative is not the destination but the rococo scenery en route. ****

—— Francis Wheen , Mail on Sunday
