The Bravest Fox - Read it yourself with Ladybird: Level 1

Foxes Kip and Tip love to play in the woods. Tip wants to see if Kip gets scared, but which one is the bravest fox?

Read it yourself with Ladybird is one of Ladybird's best-selling reading series. For over thirty-five years it has helped young children who are learning to read develop and improve their reading skills.

Each Read it yourself book is very carefully written to include many key, high-frequency words that are vital for learning to read, as well as a limited number of story words that are introduced and practised throughout. Simple sentences and frequently repeated words help to build the confidence of beginner readers and the four different levels of books support children all the way from very first reading practice through to independent, fluent reading.

There are more than ninety titles in the Read it yourself series, ranging from classic fairy tales and traditional world stories to favourite children's brands such as Peppa Pig, Angry Birds and Peter Rabbit. All-new, first reference titles complete the range, with information books about favourite subjects that even the most reluctant readers will enjoy.

Each book has been carefully checked by educational consultants and can be read independently at home or used in a guided reading session at school. Further content includes comprehension questions or puzzles, helpful notes for parents, carers and teachers, and book band information for use in schools.

The Bravest Fox is a Level 1 Read it yourself book, suitable for very early readers who are ready to take their first steps in reading real stories. Each simple story uses a small number of frequently repeated words.

Reviews

Simple text is easy for children to follow and gives plenty of information to stimulate further discussion. The bright uncluttered pictures show exactly what is happening.

—— Parents in Touch

Stanley and his fellow rodents are adorable...Little listeners are sure to come back to Stanley over and over, as he explores jobs and uses equipment sure to pique their interest.

—— Kirkus reviews

Every now and then a writer comes along with a unique way of storytelling . . . Meet Megan Rix . . . her novels are deeply moving and will strike a chord with animal lovers

—— LoveReading

Few books are laugh-out-loud funny; fewer still are the children's books that have you stifling titters on the train . . . Uncle is a brilliantly sustained exercise in nonsense, played with the straightest of faces

—— Financial Times

You ask any class "Who's heard of Alice in Wonderland" and up goes a forest of hands. Uncle is on the same level and should be more widely read and enjoyed

—— The Junior Bookshelf

Would make a great gift for literary eccentrics of any age

—— The Los Angeles Times

I think Uncle stuck with me because of its combination of excess, gadgetry and eccentricity - all of which are modes of being I have attempted to emulate in my adult life. I blame J.P. Martin

—— Will Self

If there was ever a children's series generating fanatical, "cult" adoration, this is it. And deservedly so

—— Guardian

[This] beautifully illustrated picture book contains a moving message about love, loss and learning to accept change
